At South Island Plantation

– South Island Plantation –

Experience the wonderful marriage of the water,
wildlife, and majestic landscape.

Hundreds of years in the making and next to impossible to duplicate by even the savviest of developers. There are few, if any, gated communities on the SC coastline today that rivals South Island Plantation. Situated directly on the 3,000-mile Intracoastal waterway overlooking pristine Winyah Bay, South Island Plantation is located on the edge of the charmingly delightful town of Georgetown, South Carolina.  The 180-acre gated waterfront community is geographically unique, surrounded by the protected lands and shorelines of the 17,500-acre Baruch North Island Reserve and the 20,000-acre Yawkey South Island Reserve.

What is it that makes SIP magically stand out? Here you’ll find kinder mornings where the morning cup of Joe tastes better from your porch or the docks.  Maybe it’s the calm, cool waters that glide beneath you as you spend the day on the water.  Or maybe it’s the seemingly endless marsh grasses that surround you.

For many, it’s the wind, the scent of honeysuckle and jasmine in the air, the solitude, as well as the abundance of every manner of waterfowl, shorebird, and fish. And to make it just so perfect, consider access to over 28 miles of uninhabited beaches reachable only by boat but just a golf cart or bike ride to where your boat is docked. There you will find the barrier islands that would keep a seashell collector well entertained, a landscape artist busy with endless images to capture and those that love to fish, crab or set out on the most perfect beach walk plenty of opportunities.

Here is a place where one can hear one’s own heartbeat yet be within a short drive to some of the most desired vacation and historic destinations on the eastern coastline. Yes, this will be a new home and a new adventure for many but, here at South Island Plantation, you’ll soon feel at ease moving into this old soul’s surroundings.

Georgetown

Just as important as making the choice of where your new home will be are the people you’ll call neighbors, whether they’re the locals or from the north or west who all share a passion for a lifestyle ebbing and flowing a few notches down in speed and a bit less worrisome.

Falling in love with the charming City of Georgetown is so easy to do. Every inch of Georgetown will show you more and more southern charm in every corner of this quaint port city. Here you’ll notice the sky is just a bit bluer, the air a bit saltier, and a simple walk downtown will put a smile on your face knowing you made the right move. People here are unpretentious, kind and neighborly, and you’ll soon feel that friendliness as if you’ve lived here all your life.

With five rivers flowing through its countryside offering lifeblood to a town and its people for over two centuries, here is a town that has aged well.  Georgetown is a popular stopover for boats that travel the ICW from Massachusetts to Miami and they’ve learned to count on the three full-service marinas in the harbor and the charm of the city to make their visit that much more enjoyable. You can spend the afternoon cruising down Front Street exploring numerous shops and restaurants, strolling along the Georgetown harbor walk to enjoy gorgeous waterfront views, or walking through downtown exploring historical two hundred-year-old homes.

Newcomers to the area will enjoy year-round temperatures averaging 78 degrees. Throughout the year, Georgetown hosts a large variety of events, festivals, parades, theater, concerts and regional and national fishing tournaments. If golf is a favorite pastime, there are over 100 courses to play all within a short distance from the city.

If you have your own wings it’s easy to fly in and out of Georgetown. South Island Plantation to the Georgetown airport is less than 10 minutes away. The airport includes a brand new terminal where pilots will find a full service Fixed base operator and ample hanger plane storage. Not a pilot but need to fly somewhere?  Myrtle Beach airport is one hour North and the Charleston International airport one hour South. Both served by many of the regional and national airlines.
